AMD is the major cause of blindness in the industrial world. This very common disease, however, lacks specific and objective tools for performing the precise distinction between its sub-types that is necessary for accurate and effective treatment.
The RTA’s ability to quantitatively document anatomical changes in retinal and subretinal tissues, by measuring retinal thickness variations and topographic changes of the chorioretinal interface, significantly improves the physician’s ability to diagnose, treat and monitor this disease. (8)
